Edison, NJ –
Laudis Systems has recently completed a major installation of its low cost, passive RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) enabled Yard Management System, SequorLocate™. The system, which tracks and locates containers and trailers for all yard and port operations, is now in operation at China International Marine Containers (Group) Ltd. (CIMC) at their manufacturing facility in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China. CIMC is the largest marine container manufacturer in the world, and owns over 50% market share.

Laudis’ SequorLocate™, is a real-time asset locating, tracking and management tool featuring automated hands-free operation. Working in concert with standard based passive RIFD hardware, Laudis helps deliver a fully automated storage yard management solution to yard operations. The passive RFID readers and tags have been specially designed to accommodate the rugged handling and severe weather environments containers encounter.

This RFID yard management system can locate any container in seconds anywhere in the storage yard or plant. This even enables stacked containers to be easily and instantly located for shipping, significantly reducing retrieval costs. This “real time,” information on-demand system is like a GPS (Global Positioning System) for storage yards and warehouses.

When analyzing a plant the size of CIMC’s Shenzen facility, the need for a cutting-edge, container locating system becomes clear. Searching for containers in over 100,000 sq feet of storage yard with thousands of containers, of different types and sizes, can be a time-consuming, painfully slow process plagued by operator inaccuracies. Searching for lost containers can delay the shipment of customer orders from around the world. Until now, containers were tracked through manual input on paper, which tends to be an error-prone process. Based on CIMC projections, the estimated ROI is approximately one year.
